Tromsø sits directly under the auroral oval — where northern lights are most active. From September to March, the skies fill with green, pink and purple light.
The Arctic Cathedral
One of Norway's most iconic buildings — its dramatic white triangular form mirrors the surrounding mountains and fjords. Built in 1965, it remains one of the most photographed landmarks in northern Norway.
The view that stops you in your tracks
The Fjellheisen cable car takes you 421 metres above sea level in just seven minutes. In winter, one of the finest places to watch the northern lights. In summer, the midnight sun hovers on the horizon.
